Eliot Rattle was born in 1989 in England, where he lived with his family until 1997 when they moved to San Francisco. After graduating highschool, he attended Sarah Lawrence College, where his pull towards drawing and painting as a way to articulate himself would develop alongside his interest in film imagery and history. During his junior year, he completed an abroad program in Florence, Italy, studying both Italian cinema and portraiture, which brought the face and its expressions to the forefront of his art. After returning and graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts in 2012, he moved back to San Francisco and spent a year developing his work in order to apply to San Francisco Art Institute. During this time his attention shifted towards using the sharp and theatrical faces of 50's television shows like "The Twilight Zone" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" as personalities in his drawings. In 2013, he was accepted to San Francisco Art Institute, where he studied for 3 years. He is currently completing an artist residency at the Artspan Journal Building in San Francisco.
